COLUMBIA, MISSOURI (September 19, 2024) – Beginning in 2025, the Missouri Cattlemen’s Leadership College program will transition to two-year program. This allows more flexibility for participants to be away from their operation while still attending sessions and increasing their knowledge in the cattle industry.
Mike Deering, MCA Executive Vice President, said this change will allow MCA to invest more time into the program’s participants to develop the skills needed to take the beef industry and MCA to the next level. Applicants for the Class of 2027 must be nominated by a local county cattlemen affiliate. Once nominated, applicants must submit an application located on mocattle.com and resume by December 20.
“We hope extending the program to two years brings more opportunities to the future leaders of our industry,” said Deering.
Selected participants are expected to attend and participate fully in the following sessions and events: session one, Policy and Media Advocacy, March 2025; Cattlemen’s Steak Fry, June 2025; session two, Out of State Agribusiness Tour, September 2025; Washington D.C. Leadership Conference, April 2026; session three, In-State Agribusiness Tour, May 2026. Graduation for the Class of 2027 will take place at the Missouri Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show in January of 2027.
“The lifeblood of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association is its membership. It is important that members take on leadership roles within the association whether that be on a local, regional, or state level,” said Deering. “The purpose of this program is to engage leaders and equip them with skills needed to be advocates for agriculture.”
