Don't Let Missouri Rural Crisis Center In

The Missouri Rural Crisis Center (MRCC) is based in Howard County, Missouri. Do not let their rural location fool you. This is a George Soros-funded organization that seeks to destroy modern agriculture as we know it in Rural Missouri.

County commissioners should be on the alert about the Missouri Rural Crisis Center: They will huff, and they will puff, and they will try to blow your house down – when it comes to the economic development that modern agriculture brings to our rural areas. This includes livestock farms all over Missouri.

From what I have seen from around the state, when MRCC goes into action, they lobby county commissions, health boards and others with scare tactics and emotional pleas not based on sound science. They seek a progressive agenda not just for more regulations for agriculture, but for Medicaid expansion and much, much more. I am not impressed by their intentions.

They’re community organizers at best and snake oil salesmen at worst. Missouri Rural Crisis Center comes to county commissioners to get a foot in the door. Then, their organizational meetings whip up residents into a frenzy based on fear, not facts. Social media only makes things worse.

For all county commissioners out there in rural Missouri, when the Crisis Center comes knocking and seeks to make a crisis in your county, I encourage you to not let them in. Do not open the door. Do not give them the time of day – like locusts, they come to seek and destroy everything in their path, particularly modern farming.

Instead, county commissions should seek to become Agri-Ready certified by Missouri Farmers Care. Commissions should meet with the farmers, property owners and realtors who are working to bring economic development to our area based in our roots in agriculture.

If our rural counties do not accept and promote agriculture, our number one industry in the state, then what do we promote? Farmers help pay our property taxes that fund our county roads and bridges and help keep our small towns going. Perhaps the rural crisis folks would prefer our lands be owned by out of state interests who don’t purchase feed, fence posts and fuel here. That is not what I have in mind.

The three little pigs, of whom Rural Crisis Center would probably prefer to be raised in another country instead of in rural Missouri, aren’t safe with MRCC around. Neither are commissioners who do not have a backbone to stand up to this radical, leftist organization.

When Rural Crisis Center comes to counties, residents, commissioners and others should not let them in - not by the hair of their chinny-chin-chin.
