Mark Twain Cave - Hannibal, MO

2019 Youth Industry Tour participants at the Mark Twain Cave before our tour. The cave was discovered 200 years ago by a man trying to catch his dog. Since it's discovery, the cave has been been the site of many stories, the most famous being The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. It is now a historical landmark and hosts many tours each day.

Northeast Missouri - 2019 Youth Industry Tour

The 2019 Youth Industry Tour based in Hannibal.

This year's Youth Industry Tour was held in northeast Missouri and featured stops in many rural communities including Novelty and Canton. Tour stops included US Wellness Meats, Lehenbauer Farms, and Sydenstricker Genetics. Each tour stop provided a look into the agriculture industry in northeast Missouri. Many stops focused on the uniqueness of their operations to the northeast region of the state. The group learned about the flow of barges down the Mississippi river at Ursa Farmer Coop, the grass fed meat product market at US Wellness Meats, as well as how rice is grown at the Linn Greenley MU Research Farm.

There were 47 students enrolled for the Tour this year, up from 31 in 2018 and more than any previous MCA Youth Tour. It was a weekend full of informative tours, new experiences, and friendships that will last a lifetime.

The 2020 Youth Industry Tour will be held August 28-30, 2020. The location is undecided, but suggestions and requests are welcome!
